Reading and Moving House are Incompatible

If you’re wondering why I’ve been uncharacteristically quiet recently, it’s because I haven’t finished a book in ten days and I am definitely not okay with that! I’m moving in three days so have been busy packing for the last 71,899,735 hours. That’s what just over a week feels like when you’re carefully putting books in boxes so you don’t hurt them instead of reading them.

Moving is always stressful but it’s going pretty well so far. I’m on track to finish packing before the moving truck arrives so I won’t have to be frantically chucking random stuff in boxes at the last minute. I’ve ditched some junk that I’ve been holding on to for reasons that now escape me.

But I really miss reading. It’s my primary self care activity and without it I feel somewhat unmoored. I keep reminding myself I’ve got plenty of highly anticipated reads lined up and ready to go as soon as I can get back into it. Once I finish my current read I’ll be getting to know Regan in Across the Green Grass Fields. She’s the next one who needs to “Be Sure” in Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series.

Even though I haven’t been reading I’ve managed to binge the first season of Evil, which I loved. I’ve also achieved one of my life goals: get Mum hooked on Supernatural.

Hopefully by the next time you hear from me I will have moved and finished reading a book. I’ve got a big couple of days ahead of me.

Until then, happy reading!
